Automation is often a horror show under capitalism. In a different system, though, we could let human values dictate which activities we do and don't want to turn over to algorithms.

I'm a big fan of Marx's early passage that envisions a better world where "I can hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon and be a critical critic in the evening, just as I have a mind." He never anticipated that machines could automate being a critical critic – but you show how well that flows from the rest of his theory.
